Turning 111 on a Beer a Day
"Hermann Dörnemann, the oldest man in Germany,
celebrated his 111th birthday on Thursday. The secret of his longevity? Avoid exercise and drink lots of beer."
Best news I've heard all day.
Stupid, stupid people in this country
Pacers-Pistons is an awesome series
MSNBC - Pistons haven't proven anything yet: "In the meantime, settle back for some of the best basketball you'll ever see. And spare me your purist pronouncements that these two teams are ugly to behold, because they're not.
This isn't old-fashioned NBA East basketbrawl, with bodies smashed to the floor, forearm shivers in the paint, clutching, grabbing and WWE wrestling. It's defense taken to a new level by both teams. It's the most astonishing exhibition of shot-blocking and man-to-man adhesiveness we've ever seen.
It is a thing of beauty."
WHAT?!?!?!
CNN.com - Pelosi questions Bush's competence - May 21, 2004
So here's what happened: The Democratic House Minority Leader spoke her mind about Bush, giving a bunch of reasons why she felt that he was doing a crappy job as a leader. She then took the next logical step: She suggested that
just maybe it would be appropriate at this time to question Bush's ability to lead.
And then this happened:
"'Nancy Pelosi should apologize for her irresponsible, dangerous rhetoric,' DeLay, R-Texas, said. 'She apparently is so caught up in partisan hatred for President Bush that her words are putting American lives at risk.'"
How is her "rhetoric" dangerous or irresponsible? How is it putting American lives at risk? Can anyone answer that? This will have no effect on... anything! In a democracy, we have the right and even the responsibility to question our leadership when we think it is failing us. What's
dangerous is sending American troops to war on false pretenses. It's
dangerous to alienate our allies so they're there all alone. It's
dangerous to adopt a policy of intentional prisoner abuse, leading to what is quite possibly the worst hit on American image and credibility, worldwide. We're the undisputed bad guys in the world now, and that's not just dangerous to our troops, it's dangerous to all of us. There's never been a more appropriate,
less dangerous time to question the President than right now.
Maybe someone should get a search warrant?
MSNBC - Garnett "ready for war" in Game 7 vs. Kings - "It's Game 7, man," Garnett said, according to ESPN. "That's it. It's for all the marbles.
"Sitting in the house, I'm loading up the pump. I'm loading up the Uzi. I got a couple M-16s, a couple 9s. I got a couple joints with some silencers on them. I'm just loading clips, a couple grenades. I got a missile launcher with a couple of missiles. I'm ready for war."
Seriously, settle down.
Pardon my French, but we're fucked.
MSNBC - Arab world not surprised, but outraged: "Arab media have given the story maximum exposure. It has dominated the airwaves and the newspapers since Friday night, accompanied by interviews with analysts likening the actions of the guilty U.S. troops to those of the Ku Klux Klan and Iraqis saying they are worse off under the U.S. occupation than they were under Saddam."
How many new terrorists signed up because of these photos? How fucking stupid were those troops to
photograph what they were doing? American soldiers get lots of respect and recognition for protecting our country, but so far all they've done is put a giant bulls-eye on the USA.
CNN is losing it
CNN.com 2004 Primaries - They're doing an NCAA-style bracket to try and guess who Kerry will pick as a running mate.
